Professorships

To show his appreciation for the education he received at Washington University, James Langenfeld has contributed $2 million to establish a professorship that will be held by a faculty member in the Department of Economics who works in affiliation with the Weidenbaum Center on the Economy, Government, and Public Policy. “This meaningful gift from an exceptional alumnus will have an important impact across Arts & Sciences,” says Barbara Schaal, the Mary-Dell Chilton Distinguished Professor and dean of the faculty of Arts & Sciences.

Carol Loeb and her late husband, Jerome, put education at the forefront of their philanthropy. Most recently, Mrs. Loeb made a $2 million commitment to endow the Carol B. and Jerome T. Loeb Professorship in Medical Education.

Donors who endow professorships are motivated by a variety of factors, including a desire to recognize outstanding teachers; give thanks for the institution’s role in their lives; and further its mission to teach, discover, and serve.

Jeffrey Fort extends his legacy of philanthropy at the medical school with a $5 million contribution to create a professorship and bolster research led by Gregory Zipfel, MD, and Joshua Osbun, MD.
